Year 7 Program
To aid with transition, year 7 students are taught by a team of teachers who are responsible for delivery of the curriculum, discipline and welfare. Across all subjects, students are taught by a small number of teachers, to aid in the building of positive relationships between students and staff.
The curriculum is delivered as part of four term long integrated units of work on the themes of myself, my community, my environment and being part of a global world.
Within the year 7 program, students have the opportunity to participate in:
- Specialist subjects such as Japanese, music, art, material studies and textiles
- The Restart program, a literacy support program.
- Instrumental music
- Year 7 camp
- The Community Awareness Program
- House based activities
- Hands on Learning Program
All Year 7 students at Sale College recently came together for the day to celebrate and present the work each class had produced as part of this term’s integrated theme of “My Community”. They also took part in a series of games and activities related to theme. It was a great chance to share their work and see what all the other classes had produced.
Presentations about community organizations and the valuable contribution they make to our community included the Red Cross, the CFA, the SES, Salvation Army, the RSPCA and more.
The students produced videos, slide shows, wrote songs, and created books, posters, games and much more as part of their study and celebration of each organisation’s role.
