Our Community

Our recently formed “Friends of Sale College” offers all past associates of Sale College, and especially those of Sale High and Technical Schools and Macalister Secondary College (whose amalgamation formed Sale College) an opportunity to reconnect and maintain links. An annual luncheon is held for this group on the last Saturday each May and as the word spreads attendance numbers are growing.

Next year’s event will be held on Saturday 29th May, 12 noon – 3pm at the Sale Club/Sale RSL York Street, Sale. For more information phone Beth at Sale College on 51443711. Pictured in the right sidebar are some of those who attended in 2009.

To commemorate the centenary celebration held for the Sale High School in 2007, an oak tree was planted in the Sale Botanic Gardens. This particular oak, Quercus x heterophylla, was chosen from a list of typical trees known to be planted in gardens a century ago. It is known for its great Autumn colour. Current students are producing an inscription plate.

The celebration of both our past and present students’ achievements is ongoing. We proudly recognise and honour individuals and group efforts and this in turn inspires and encourages increased and further success for all. Sale High School Centenary

To mark the Sale High School Centenary celebrations in 2007, Ann & Peter Synan have put together a book about the history of Sale High School that can best be described as a "centenary portrait".

It contains a multitude of photos from the various eras in the school's history, documents and memories of ex-students and teachers.The book is all the more remarkable in view of the fact that much of the Sale High School archived material was lost in 1994 when fire gutted the administration block.

As a consequence, many of the photos have come from private collections and the Centenary Committee would like to thank all those who have made a contribution to the book.
